First Films Announced for Sydney Film Festival 2026

Sydney Film Festival reveals a sneak peek of the 13 daring new films set to screen this June, offering a taste of the 200+ strong 2026 program ahead of the full Festival announcement on Wednesday 6 May.

Announcing Three New Sydney Film Festival Board Members

Business leader and founder of the Calaur Advisory Deb Eckersley, joins the Sydney Film Festival board as Treasurer, while Madman Entertainment co-founder and CEO Paul Wiegard and award-winning actor and writer Thomas Weatherall both join as directors. Thomas’ contribution joins a wider arts initiative spearheaded by the NSW government to include young arts leaders on boards of preeminent cultural institutions.

Sydney Film Festival acknowledges Australia’s First Nations People as the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the land, and pay respect to the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation, upon whose Country SFF is based.

We honour the storytelling and culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across Australia.
