Women aren’t allowed in the local shooting contest in Halime’s small Turkish village. So, she creates her own in this bold, hilarious and moving documentary. Hot Docs Festival 2026.

In a small Turkish village, Halime dreams of entering the local shooting contest. There’s just one problem: it’s reserved for men only. Refusing to accept the rules, Halime teams up with her fearless friend Gönül to launch their own shooting competition for women, challenging generations of tradition and winning over sceptics, including many men, some women and most importantly the mayor. Director Morteza Atabaki brings us close to these unforgettable women, capturing their determination through candid, often hilarious exchanges with each other, their families and their community. What unfolds is a joyful portrait of resilience that shows how change begins, with courage, humour and an unshakeable belief.

...32 Meters is, without reservation, a refreshing example of peace triumphing. As a bright, stimulating, and also warm watch, it kept me (and my peers) firmly in our seats, asking for more until the final note of the ending titles.
