A little more than 10 years ago in Kaduna, Nigeria, a group of children began filming on a father's smart phone. They soon formed the filmmaking collective The Critics. Crafting inventive science fiction movies with homemade green screens and casts of friends and family, their work brims with originality and ambition. As their films spread online, global audiences and figures like J. J. Abrams took notice, lending the support that changed their lives. Directed by The Critics and Pietra Brettkelly (A Flickering Truth, SFF 2016), this vibrant coming-of-age documentary draws us into their creative process and life – and features many scenes from their epic films. A hit at the Berlinale, executive produced by Idris Elba.
