This Sundance award winner captures the dawn immigration raid that sparked an unprecedented community uprising in Glasgow. Featuring Emma Thompson and Kate Dickie.

On Eid in 2021, Glasgow’s spirit of resistance ignites when the Home Office attempts to detain two Sikh men in the country’s most diverse neighbourhood. Within minutes, neighbours flood the street, forming a human barrier that grows into an eight-hour standoff. One protester (who wishes to be anonymous, reenacted by Emma Thompson) even lies beneath a police van, halting its departure. Drawing on mobile footage, news coverage and interviews, director Felipe Bustos Sierra places us directly inside this powerful act of solidarity. Winner of the Sundance 2026 Special Jury Award for Civil Resistance, this story now lands with renewed force as communities across the world confront escalating immigration crackdowns.

A film telling the story of ‘one of Scotland’s most spontaneous and successful acts of civil resistance in recent memory’ deserves a title full of urgency. And documentary maker Felipe Bustos Sierra found one: Everybody to Kenmure Street.
