The Tale of Silyan
Nikola has worked the land he loves for his entire life, but new government policies leave him unable to sustain his farm. With his family forced to seek work abroad, he is left alone, until a chance encounter at a landfill brings an injured white stork into his life. Nursing Silyan back to health, Nikola discovers a companion who fills the emptiness left by those he loves. Inspired by a 17th-century Macedonian folktale, award-winning documentarian Tamara Kotevska crafts a visually stunning, tender story of survival, connection and the fragile bond between humans and nature. Winner, Best Film, Cinema and Arts Award at Venice.
